Hi, I’m Ashley - the photographer behind Ash + Evergreen.

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Photography has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. From sneaking my parents’ Polaroid to 6th-grade camp to learning how to develop film in the darkroom with my grandfather, the collection of cameras eventually passed down to me. I also hold a decade of experience in public and mental health. That work taught me how to hold space, build trust, and find meaning in connection. I've designed curriculum, programs, and creative strategies that help people feel rooted in themselves, in their communities, and in one another.

Photography became a natural extension of that practice. It's where I get to weave care, creativity, and story into something tangible — a way of witnessing, of slowing down, of honoring the quiet details that shape our lives.

The symbolism found in nature often mirrors the human experience, reminding us how much meaning is hidden in what quietly endures. In Celtic mythology, the ash tree represents stability and the deep nourishment that comes from within — its roots digging far into the earth for grounding and strength. The evergreen, resilient through the coldest winters, has long symbolized the ability to persist and begin again.

Ash + Evergreen is a reflection of that balance: rootedness and resilience, quiet transformation and steady light. It’s also a tribute to my name — to the parents who nurtured my creativity, to the name I carried before marriage, and to the belief that our stories are formed by the roots we inherit and the connections we nurture along the way. This work, photography, storytelling, witnessing, is how I honor that light in others. When seen fully, it becomes an invitation for others to do the same.

My approach.

My work is rooted in intentional storytelling, preserving both the grand, cinematic moments and the quiet ones that often go unnoticed. I believe the way your partner looks at you across the room matters just as much as the vows you exchange. Whether I’m photographing a family in motion or a couple mid-embrace, I focus on what feels real: honest connection, emotional depth, and the fleeting details that tell the whole story.

I take a collaborative, intuitive approach to each session. I’ll gently guide when needed, offering direction that feels natural, but I also know when to step back and let life unfold. My goal is to create a space that feels grounded and safe, where you can breathe, move freely, and simply be. The most honest images often come from the in-between.

If what you see here resonates, I’d love to hear from you.
